Forum Theatre Performances
Six Forum Theatre performances are the results from the workshops. The scenarios focused on repressed dissidents and drew parallels from the civil movements in the past in order to contribute to the understanding of civil liberties and freedoms as an indispensable element of democracy.
During the period 15 November – 14 December 2021, six performances were played before an audience in Bulgaria, Romania, Germany, Lithuania, Poland and Czech Republic.
The performances contained demonstrations of social and political obstacles, where participants placed themselves in the oppressed characters they played and had to deal with the repressions imposed on them. In this way, participants developed and enriched a sense of empathy and awareness by immersing themselves in the plot of the performance. The method evokes self-reflection in the actors and spectators and created space for dialogue on topics related to oppressive situations and acts for social change.
