This short authentic video captures the interrogation of Petar Manolov (1939-2016) – a Bulgarian poet, dissident, part of the Union of Bulgarian Writers. The interrogation was taking place after the confiscation of his poetry and documentation (January 1989). He was a writer who expressed his dissatisfaction with the government, violation of civil rights and the freedom of speech through his poetry and Acrostics. Not only that, but he was a member of the first Independent Movement for Human Rights in Bulgaria. This video shows an act of oppression against a writer who does not agree with the current state of the country. The writer is not afraid to speak openly in the face of iniquity and injustice.
