Young people visited the outdoor exhibition “The Unbowed: Women in the Opposition of the 1980s” (“Niepokorne: kobiety w opozycji lat 80”) on 15 July. The exhibition was created as part of the celebrations of the anniversary of the June 1989 elections. The exhibition was devoted to the participation of women in opposition activities in the 1980s. Despite the fact that women co-organised strikes and built regional structures in the Solidarność movement, their participation did not reflect in the number of women in the governing bodies of Solidarność.
We do not always remember the merits of women in overthrowing communism in Poland, which is why this exhibition is so important.
The exhibition was prepared by the Warsaw History Meeting House (Dom Spotkań z Historią).
