A walking tour “The Mile of Freedom” took place on Friday, 9 July. During this tour, the group walked a symbolic mile on the main avenue Gedimino prospect. This symbolic mile stretched from the Lithuanian Council of Science in which building the independence movement Sajudis was created in 1988 and lasted until the house of parliament where on 11 March 1990 Sajudis declared Lithuanian independence. On the way, the group stopped at such symbolic places like restaurant “Neringa” which was a famous gathering place of soviet era bohemia and therefore also KGB agents who tried to listen to their conversations or even recruit them. The participants also stopped at the palace of Government which during the Soviet times served as a bureau for Communist party executive committee.
